Tips for Great Job Interviews

Interview  advice

It is more and more often the case that we do not have to solicit a job, but the employer must fight for us. And very well. This awareness gives us a sense of greater stability so that during the interview, we can shine and feel free.

Talking to a future employer is like starting a competition we feel nervous, we want to win, and our body is filled with adrenaline. And just like in sports competitions, so during the qualifying meeting, solid preparation brings us closer to the podium. What is the most important thing during a conversation?

When it comes to recommendations before the interview, this feature appears extremely often. In principle, no communication is achieved. At most, the employer's monologue is interrupted by our nods. And the interview is not a lie detector test and is acceptable, and even longer statements than "yes" or "no" are welcome. Let's not be afraid to ask questions.

In other words, it's good to know who you are, what you can do, and what you can offer the company. Of course, the fact that we can draw beautifully does not necessarily have to be useful in the work of a banker, but the trick is to argue that additional advantages are useful to the employer, e.g., artistic skills will help create presentations for bank customers.

So before we meet face to face with our future employer, it is worth considering which qualifications and abilities can be positively received. It is important to know why and what we come up with.

The interview is a serious matter, but the grave face is unlikely to help. As they see us, they write to us, and it is certainly more pleasant to work with nice, joyful people. So, although we'll probably get more or less stress during the conversation, let's not forget to smile.

It is not about loud salvos of laughter every time we manage to bring the conversation to a slightly looser thread, but about showing ourselves as a positive and friendly person, but also controlled.

Company and industry knowledge

Today, most companies have their own websites, where we can find a lot of information, and such research really does not take a week - just a moment is enough. And without the knowledge of the company and the industry in which we want to develop, we can, at our own request, get into trouble getting a job.

We do not have to memorize the content from the site, but we show that we know the history of the company and are interested in it, and the vision of the company is close to us.

Ready answers to strange questions

Sometimes we even have problems answering common questions, e.g., about our own pros and cons. The interview has specific points, and you can really prepare for them a bit. For most candidates, questions about weaknesses are particularly difficult.

We can talk endlessly about our advantages and achievements, but it is difficult to point to such a disadvantage, which will not seem too trivial, and at the same time will not be very aggravating. When we talk about our minuses, it's short and to the point.

Sugar is harmful

If we start to delight in the company, we can go out desperate. It is clear that it is worth knowing where and what the company is successful to use such an argument in response to the question of why we want to work here. But distance is important. Also towards myself.

Let's know our values, let's fight for ours, and let us show off our achievements when it is possible, but let's not fall into self-restraint.

Without a private job

Compliments on the appearance of our interlocutor can do more harm than help. The interview is professional, not social. Socializing with the recruiter is never welcome. There are situations in which our interlocutor suggests switching to "you". Then we can afford to call him by his name, but we should never suggest it first.

Do not lie

Don't lie because a lie has short legs, big eyes, and lots of other defects. This applies to both previous employment and skills. We should remember that in the CV, we enter the data of the previous employer, and the recruiter may ask for a reference or ask for a way to contact an earlier employer.

Coloring about skills can also come out during a conversation or while working. Very often, candidates enter a higher level of a foreign language than in reality. They hope that this competence will not be useful. But what if the recruiter asks for one of the CV points in a foreign language and awaits an answer? The liar is burned at the start. Especially, when someone helps create a resume.

Not this time

This approach allows for more play and freedom. It also gives psychological comfort, and this increases our chances of getting a job. If a successful job interview is unfortunately not the one we are leaving from, it's not worth breaking down. Comparing how stressful the first job interview in life was, and with what attitude we went to the fifth, dos
