How to Write Esthetician Resume

An aesthetician is a specialist who cares for a face and body of a client to eliminate the defects of his skin and give it a more youthful and well-groomed appearance. The profession of a cosmetologist is especially in demand in large cities. There are many more people for whom a flawless appearance is not just a desire but one of the conditions for a successful or happy life. In 2024 it was in the top 100 most-demanded jobs in the US. Esthetician is a specialist without a higher medical education (it is enough to complete short courses). These masters are often found in beauty salons, SPA, and cosmetology centers. So, it is the easiest way to enter the beauty industry. Aestheticians perform almost 90% of personal care procedures - manicures, pedicures, makeup, depilation, etc. However, they are not allowed to perform medical manipulations (shots, for example) and a number of hardware procedures.

Job description

A cosmetologist is a specialist who must possess the appropriate methods regarding his qualifications, understand cosmetic preparations, and be able to use professional equipment. Esthetician also needs to be able to determine the type of skin, test the client for the presence of an allergic reaction to drugs, remember about possible contraindications and side effects for different procedures. Aesthetic cosmetologists are specialists in cosmetic procedures. They perform relatively simple operations aimed at improving the appearance of a person: they are engaged in coloring eyebrows and eyelashes, doing different types of massage, masks, facial cleansing, depilation, and wraps. At the word "aesthetician" most of these procedures people come to mind. In addition to procedures, performed by the hands, they use the tools of hardware (more precisely, physiotherapy) cosmetology. The main duties of the aesthetician are:

  • Performing works on the aesthetic cosmetology of the face: cleansing, care, massage, eyebrow and eyelash correction, their coloring
  • Performing works on the aesthetic cosmetology of the body: SPA programs, hair removal, and sugaring, programs for body correction
  • Advising patients on face and body skincare
  • Making the necessary procedure records

To aestheticians often come people who are worried about their aesthetic problems, whether acne or age-related changes. Esthetician needs to be able to help reduce the significance of this problem and support the person. Obviously, it requires empathy and good communication skills. If a cosmetologist wants to build a successful career, then it is extremely important for him to develop soft skills. Focusing on tasks, speed of reaction, attentiveness to small things, and good memory are extremely important. It is one of the premises of being a good specialist, other than professional skills. The aestheticist should have such important qualities as:

  • cleanliness
  • developed fine motor skills
  • perseverance
  • interpersonal skills
  • politeness
  • good memory
  • excellent coordination
